Being Kind is Not Natural

Being KIND is not natural.  Everywhere I look I see these similar sentiments. Choose Kind Be Kind If you can be anything, be kind. Sound familiar? Really, why would we need so many reminders about being kind? The truth is because we are not wired to be kind.  Think about it.  Growing up, we teach our kids to play sports. We teach them sportsmanship and how to treat others in the game; how not to be a sore loser. AT the same time, we teach them that competition is important and so is winning. We teach them that to win and make the team we need to be better than everyone else.  In school, we teach them that being a good student means getting a good grade. We give awards to students for being the top achiever. Don't get me wrong, schools try to teach students how to get along for the sake of collaboration. Yet, we assign grade point averages and we award only the top performers. We value being the best in school and equate it with being successful in life....

Official First Day of Fall

Happy first day of Fall! Although it doesn't seem like Fall because it's hot and sunny outside, the first day of Fall signals the beginning of all things warm, cozy and pumpkiny. Is that even a word? No matter if we haven't even had Halloween yet. Fall means: Family Thanksgiving Decorating Pumpkins Green, orange, brown, yellow Gratefulness Yummy food Baking So, today in honor of the first day of Fall I decided that I would start a daily list of things I am grateful for. Day 1: I am grateful to God. He is my Lord and Savior. He has blessed me with this life that I get to spend with my family and friends. What are you grateful for today?

Happy National Scrapbook Day 2018! I once read that there is no such word as "scrapbooking."  Well, what do you call it when people whip out their scrapbooks and all their ephemera, stickers, borders, scrapbook paper, etc. then start creating magic? In my book, that's called scrapbooking! If it isn't already, it should be added to the latest version of the urban dictionary. On this National/International Scrapbook Day, I've downloaded a couple of goodies that will get me started on my project.  Thank you to Simple Stories who offered this sweet freebie today! Have you done any scrapbooking, paper crafting, or memory planning today?
